Welcome!

8th Grade Choir

Welcome!  I am excited that you have chosen to be part of the Chorus this year!  I am pleased to be your choral director and am looking forward to having great choral experiences.

The Chorus is a performing ensemble with a focus in preparing for performances and creating and expressing yourself as an ensemble through music.  Your attendance is required for all choral performances.  Failure to attend a performance will result in a make-up assignment.

You will be developing vocal technique, reading skills and musicianship.  The class expectation is to work hard with participation and diligence.  The hard work will make wonderful memories and musical experiences that will last a lifetime!  Remember that learning music is a life long journey.

Music Class Expectations

1.     Be on time to rehearsals and performances

2.     Proper singing posture is expected while singing.  Your body is your instrument!

3.     Absolutely NO GUM permitted during rehearsal or performances.  Water is just fine.

4.     Always bring a pencil to class.

5.     Talking during rehearsals in not appropriate.  Your attention is even expected when the teacher is working with a specific voicing or group of individuals.  When you talk, you are distracting the singers and disturbing the concentration of the rehearsal.

6.     A positive attitude and participation is vital to the ensemble’s progress.

7.     Proper concert etiquette is expected at all performances!

  1. Each student will have a folder with music for class and is responsible for the condition of the music.  Failure to handle the sheet music with care will result in a charge.
