Important!!
- 6th grade band rehearsals: Tuesday mornings at 8am and Thursday
during 1st period. PLEASE be on time!
- There are OLD PICTURES on your site, because I DO NOT have all your picture permission forms!

District 6th Grade Honor Band Festival
Students are nominated based on the following:
1. Participation in rehearsals (paying attention, having supplies, etc.)
2. The progress they have made.
3. The ability to grow from this experience.

Held at North High School
Parent Drivers Needed
Approx. times: 12:30-4pm rehearsal, 4:30-5:30 dinner at the mall, 6pm change in to "concert black and white"
and 7pm concert.
Permission slip required to participate in this fabulous event!

Rehearsal times before the concert: 5:45pm Jazz Band, 5th grade bands 6:10pm, Do
not be late! 6th grade band will warm-up in a classroom at 6:45pm and the doors
will open for parents, etc. to enter at 6:45pm.
(Please bring treats to share)

6-8th Grades District Band and Orchestra Solo Festival
- You are expected to get your own ride to and from North High School.
- Be responsible for your instrument, sticks, etc., music AND the original judge's copy.
- ARRIVE at least 30 minutes before your assigned time so you can warm up.

North High School, 8am-4pm (approx. time for students is 1 hour)
Students will receive an info. sheet with there time, center, etc in Feb.
|
|
|
You may attend if you performed in both the Winter Concert and the Solo Festival. Permission slip and $4.25 by Monday March 2nd if you are going to attend!
|
Happy Joe's Jungle Bungle, 6-8pm
PLEASE have rides there by 8pm! Parents, etc. need to come down to get your student and let Mrs.
Hill know before you leave.

Turner Hall, Village of East Davenport
- Be there by 11:30am
- Set up on stage at 11:45am
- Perform at 12:00pm
- Wear all black bottoms, blue polos
- Students may leave at 1:30, after our "set" is over.

The 6th grade band meets twice a week.
- On Tuesdays at 8 a.m. PLEASE be on time!
- Thursday's during 1st period.
Students are responsible for the following:
- To return the signature page from our band handbook, the District solo charge of $2.00 and the internet permission
form (for group pictures on this site and possible the newspaper).
- To be prepared for and to attend the private 10 minute lesson each week.
- To bring thier instrument, book (Essential Elements 2000 with CD and DVD) and supplies every day we have a rehearsal.
- To practice AT LEAST 15 minutes a day so we can have FUN in band!

Extra Opportunities:
- DCSD 6th Grade Honor Band - Advanced students from each intermediate school are chosen to participate in
a mass rehearsal and night concert in November. The rehearsal and concert are held at one of the high schools.
- Jungle Bungle Party!! (Inside Happy Joe's Pizza) In February we will celebrate
your January concert as well as your great performances during the solo festival.
- To help recruit (play for) the 5th grade students in the Spring.
- Jazz Band
- Percussion Ensemble

Student information:
You need to practice 15 minutes every night....which is about 4 commercial breaks!
If you have to miss a day just practice 30 minutes one night to make up for it. Consistent
(every day/every other day) practice is the only way to get better! Use it or loose it!
Your practice sheet is a BIG PART of your grade! Practice for 15 minutes a day AND get a parent/guardian
signature EVERY week.
